If you are hosting for the holidays, you know that the menu of wine and cocktails is as important as what you will serve on the plate! Everyone has different tastes and budgets so, we are giving you all of our favourites as a starting point. If you want to know what to drink this holiday season, check out our recommendations below:

For the aperitif:

Veuve Clicquot Brut, From $49.95 at LCBO

The festive champagne is something that everyone will love! Enjoy it as an aperitif, accompanied with finger food or oysters, and you will impress your guests!

Prosecco Ruffino, $19.95 at LCBO

If you are hosting a large group and your budget does not allow you to buy champagne, opt for prosecco, it’s a great option for anything on your menu. After all, who does not like bubbles?

If you are the cocktail type:

Grey Goose, From $27.95 at LCBO

If you are hosting a few times during the holiday season, there is a good chance that you’re planning to stock your bar with some spirits. Vodka is a great base to have on hand to concoct many popular cocktails, so, keep that in mind!

The Glenlivet Single Malt Scotch Whiskey, From $49.95 at LCBO

If you have some Scotch enthusiasts over, think about having a bottle on hand – this bottle will please the most discerning tastes.

Pineau des Charentes, $29.95 at LCBO

A nice alternative for people who do not like bubbles, but who want to drink something festive at the beginning of the night!

Red wine:

Two Oceans Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot, $12.95 at LCBO

Its affordable price will put a smile on your face when you go shopping for your New Year’s Eve party. This well-balanced wine will certainly please everyone!

White wines:

WILLM Pinot Gris, $19.95 at LCBO

A fresh and dry wine that has nice acidity, this Pinot Blanc is an excellent choice to have on your menu or to give as a hostess gift. No more room in the fridge? Place it for a few minutes in the snow, outside to serve it cold.

Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, From $11.95 at LCBO

This Sauvignon Blanc is a perfect choice if you don’t know your guests’ taste and is a great wine to have on hand in case people unexpectedly drop by during the holidays. It works very well with smoked salmon, fried fish and oysters, of course!
