Snack Ideas: Turkey, Brie and Apple Skewers

If you are looking for easy snack ideas for kids (and adults), then you’ve come to the right place.  This recipe from Nicole Harling (@culinarycool) is perfect as an after school snack for kids or even as a salad topper from adults.  We love snack ideas that only take a few minutes of prep and don’t require cooking.  Turkey is so versatile – buy deli slices and mix and match them with different cheeses,  fruits and vegetables for easy snack ideas or lunch or enjoy a whole turkey for a meal and leftovers. The choice is yours!

Serves: 4 snack servings (yields 8 skewers)

Prep time: 10 minutes

Cook time: 0 minutes

Ingredients:

-2.5 oz (about 5 slices) deli turkey, cut into 16 strips

-3 oz double cream brie, cut into 8 cubes

-2 oz gala apple (about 1/2) cut into cubes

-8 cocktail sized skewers

Directions:

  1. Layer 2 strips of turkey one on top of the other, then roll them up.
  2. Thread each skewer with 1 turkey roll, 1 apple cube and 1 brie cube.
  3. Store in an airtight container in the fridge.
  4. Serve as a snack, or as a salad topper.

Tip:

If you want to remove the rind from the brie, pop the cheese in the freezer for about 10 minutes first.  It’s easier to cut the rind off when its firm.  You will also lose less cheese this way.
