When was the last time that you visited the dentist for a check-up? Unfortunately, many Canadians don’t visit the dentist quite as often as they should, and this can lead to further issues with their teeth. Realistically, you should be visiting a local dentist every 6 months and more frequently if you experience issues.

In this guide, we thought we’d look at some of the signs that you need to visit the dentist. Read on to find out what they are.

Your Gums are Bleeding

Do you find that your gums bleed when you brush or floss between your teeth? This is a common problem that many Canadian’s face, yet they don’t visit the dentist to try and resolve the issue. There are a number of reasons why your gums may be bleeding including the initial stages of gum disease developing. So, book that check-up today!

Your Teeth are Too Sensitive

Another common sign that you may need to visit a dentist in Hamilton, Toronto, Ottawa or wherever you live across Canada is when your teeth are too sensitive. The last thing you want when you are trying to eat is for your teeth to hurt with hot or cold food. According to the experts, this could be a sign that your dental enamel is worn away and you need to see a dentist as soon as possible.

You Have Bad Breath

Did you know that having bad breath can actually be a common sign that you need to visit the dentist?  This is something that can happen as a result of gum disease which is something that develops and worsens over time. No one wants to have bad breath so if you are experiencing it despite brushing your teeth – it might be time to give the dentist a visit.

Your Mouth Is Sore

One of the most obvious signs that you need to visit the dentist comes when your mouth is sore. This could be a result of an abscess, a broken tooth or something worse. In the event of an emergency, you may need to call one of the local hospitals, rather than your dentist. Otherwise, your dentist might be able to slot you in and help to resolve the issue sooner rather than later.

You Are Pregnant

Finally, you’ll find that when you are pregnant, your oral health issues can actually get worse. This comes as a result of your hormones changing and so you need to be aware of any problems that you currently have. The good news is that dentists are trained to help those who are pregnant so your local dentist should be able to resolve the issue.

Final Verdict

If you have spotted any of these signs, then you need to book a check-up with your dentist as soon as possible. Don’t leave the problem to get worse as you will only regret this. There are tons of local dentists in Ontario and all across Canada, so find one that works for you.
