Most people feel at ease in their home. It is where they have built beautiful memories with their family. Think, for example, of the attic with old photo albums, the bedroom where your children used to sleep, or the room with your hobby supplies. You become attached to your home and most people would like to continue living there for as long as possible.

As you get older, climbing the stairs can become increasingly difficult. You may have less strength in your legs, becoming harder to keep your balance or you may experience dizziness. Many people in this situation are afraid that they will have to say goodbye to their home, but this is not always the case. Smart adjustments such as a stairlift can ensure that you can continue living comfortably at home for a long time.

Why do so many people choose a stairlift?

Moving to a care home or a single level apartment can be a solution for some people, but it is also a major step and not everyone is ready for it. It means leaving everything that is familiar and downsizing. With a stairlift you can postpone that step and perhaps even avoid it altogether. Thanks to this aid you no longer have to make a physical effort to get from one floor to another. You can move freely through your own home again. This means you no longer have to avoid certain floors because they are no longer accessible.

A stairlift creates more connection

Imagine that your partner picks up a book from the attic in the evening and you have no choice but to wait downstairs. Or that your grandchildren are playing upstairs, but you cannot just go and have a look. These are small moments that can add up and can make you feel lonely in your own home.

With a stairlift, family members can once again visit without you having to worry about how to get downstairs to have coffee together. And if the grandchildren are playing in the attic, you can just as easily go upstairs to join them. You can be part of everything again and can also easily lie down on the bed upstairs if you are tired. This freedom provides extra convenience, but can also offer a great deal of peace on an emotional level. You are no longer limited by the stairs.

The right stairlift for your staircase

There is a great deal of difference between staircases and homes. Fortunately, there are also many options in terms of brands, models and custom solutions. For homes with a straight and steep staircase, many affordable solutions are available. Do you have a staircase with bends? Special models are also available for that.

Of course, it is important not only to look at the staircase, but also at your personal situation and wishes. A comfortable seat and good armrests, for example, can make you feel more secure. For independent brand advice you can contact a provider such as Summit Stairlifts. This company offers many different brands and models, allowing the advisors to properly determine which stairlift really is the best choice for you.
