Get ready for Halloween with the most bone chilling experience in town. Jaymes White is back with The Isabella Street Séance* and you may have sleep with one eye open after you attend. The traditional Victorian séance takes place at a real haunted mansion in the heart of downtown Toronto. You will be able to prowl the hallways of the mansion one last time before it is scheduled for demolition. After seven years of sold out séances, it’s safe to say that White owns Halloween (and beyond) in Toronto.
We recently attended The Isabella Street Séance and have the inside scoop on everything that you need to know, without any spoilers, of course.
How to Get the Most Out of the Séance According to Jaymes White:
- Be on time – late arrivals will not be permitted. Map out the meeting location ahead of time and be there fifteen minutes early
- Even if you are a skeptic, give it a chance and go in with an open mind. The more open-minded you are, the more that you will get out of the experience
- Participate and don’t be afraid to speak up
- Don’t come drunk – you may disrupt others who are trying to get the most out of The Isabella Street Séance

The Review
I’ve attended several of Jaymes White’s séances in the past. The one common element is that the way that they start out. A group of slightly nervous adults line up at a location in the GTA where we wait for someone from the team to walk us over the the séance location. We enter and the group will take a cursory look around the entrance. The slight tinge of fear is almost palpable as we try to sense if any evil spirits are in our midst, laughing lightly with every creak of the house.
You are then walked upstairs to sign a waiver which seems slightly ominous, but it’s standard. We then wait for White to make his appearance. He sets the stage and gives us a brief history of the location before handing out obsidian crystals to block negative energy. Some of the more terrified guests look longingly at the bowl housing said crystals with a look on their face showing that they would like to take a handful versus one or two. That is where the similarities end.
The Isabella Street Séance felt more menacing than previous events. Maybe it was the house, maybe it was the storytelling, or maybe it was the group, but things that cannot be explained happened. No specifics, no spoilers, but there were screams and things did go bump in the night.
What makes each séance different is the group of people there. They have the power to make or break the experience. White serves as your guide but what you put into the experience is what you will get out of it. The Isabella Street Séance was the best yet. You may just want to go back for more thrills and chills.
There are still tickets available, but act fast, before they disappear.
