Are you looking for places for a summer vacation or mini-vacation? There is nothing better than a short family roadtrip for spending quality time together and to make fun discoveries!  Here are some ideas for your next adventure:

Quebec City, Quebec

Not only is this city packed with family activities like a day at the water slides in the Village Vacances Valcartier , a visit to the Aquarium du Québec or a cruise on the river. It is also rich in history. Take the time to stroll on the Plains of Abraham and take in the beauty of Old Quebec. You can check out The Citadel and there are plenty of museums that the whole family can enjoy together.Family Roadtrips Chateau Frontenac

Quebec City has so many great hotel options.  Château Frontenac (near Old Quebec) is a must stay or at least a place that you need to visit while you are there – it’s breathtaking.  There is also the Hilton, Alt Quebec or the Holiday Inn Express (offering free lunch).
Some more must dos: a meal at Cochon Dingue and a visit to the Benjo store for amazing toys.

Stowe – Jefferson, Vermont

Nature and outdoor enthusiasts will be thrilled to visit this corner of Vermont. In Jefferson, you can rent a condo in Smugglers Notch, where you will find a ton of family friendly activities (even a summer camp for your children) in a rustic and peaceful setting. You just have to cross the mountain by Notch Road to arrive in Stowe, a beautiful little town that is filled with restaurants and small shops. In Stowe, staying at the Trapp Family Lodge  is a must. The owners are descendants of the von Trapp family from “The Sound of Music”. In the summer, the resort offers Concerts in the Meadow right on site for a beautiful view and music too.

Must do: a stop at Ben & Jerry’s at Smugglers Notch!

Ogunquit, Maine

With a drive of only 4-5 hours, the Wells-Ogunquit area is a prime destination for many Quebecers. The sea is beautiful, the beach perfect for families and the route to get there is easy.

As for accommodations, there are so many options like camping, chalet rentals, condos and motels. Try Village by the Sea for condo-type accommodation (1 to 3 rooms).
Must dos: The candy store on the main street in Ogunquit, a stop in Kennebunkport and the shopping outlets in Kittery.

Montebello, Quebec

If you are looking for a resort where you can just relax and have fun for a few days, the Fairmont Montebello is a great choice. It has indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a wide range of activities for young and old, and a beautiful lobby where you can spend time with your family reading, relaxing or playing games.Family Roadtrip Montebello

For outdoor enthusiasts, there is Omega Park  – a wildlife park with animals native to Quebec. You can see the animals in their own environment, hike and camp. New this year: sleeping with wolves.
Must dos: Le Café du Bistro where the pizza is excellent and the brunches at the Fairmont Château Montebello.
