5 Simple Habits That Can Make You Appear Younger

In some cases, looking younger can depend more on the simple habits you stick to every day. Admittedly, if done well, most of these routines can have an impact on your overall wellbeing. It’s not surprising that about 80 – 90% of females in Canada have concerns about their appearance. And if you’re looking for simple ways to help you appear younger, below are a few ideas to consider.

Get eight hours of sleep, regularly

One of the most underestimated activities is sleep. The fact is, it is not just the act of laying down and closing your eyes for hours. It has more to do with the quality of sleep. In this case, consistent sleep times are important. Unfortunately, life and work pressures often cause people to lose regular, quality sleep. For example, the misconception that more than five hours of sleep is equivalent to laziness causes many people to lose sleep.

However, sleep is a potent natural therapy that allows the body to repair itself. It is only during sleep that your cells can renew themselves while rejuvenating vital processes in the body. Indeed, sleep even has a significant impact on the appearance of your skin, especially around the eyes. That explains the puffy eyes and dark circles that appear when people lose as little as a few hours of good sleep. Eight hours of sleep for an adult is ideal and can make a huge difference.

Now for the trickiest part. How often can you get eight hours of quality sleep? The answer will depend on how important you consider your health. You are directly responsible for your wellbeing, and the decisions you make now can make a much-needed difference in your life.

Stay properly hydrated daily

Instead of soda, you may want to opt for just plain water to stay hydrated. Water does wonders for the body. It flushes toxins from your system, prevents thickening of the blood and improves your general wellbeing. It’s also worth noting that the human body can go without water for up to three days. Any longer than that and the brain and other vital body organs will begin to shut down. Staying hydrated can also complement any acne treatments you may be undergoing. Usually, about eight glasses of water a day is the guideline to remain hydrated.

Moisturize often

The roof on your house acts as the first line of defense against changes in the weather. It also protects the interior of your house from unnecessary heat and cold. In other words, it takes the hit as long as the material used in manufacturing the roof is of good quality. The same applies to your skin. Regular moisturizing helps the skin to absorb more water to keep it smooth, healthy, and supple.

Whether in winter or summer, your skin acts as the barrier between the elements and your internal organs. Because it is the first thing, people see when you approach them, you want to protect your skin. And you can reap results when you stick to a healthy skincare routine. Thankfully, there are several good products on the market that help improve the skin’s appearance.

Take regular showers or baths

Personal hygiene is a crucial part of self-grooming, and if you are doing it regularly, that is a good habit to maintain. The body’s surface tends to harbour harmful microorganisms that you come into contact with from the environment. Therefore, when you bathe or shower regularly, you get rid of these microbes. The guiding principle is to add a mild soap or body shampoo to clean your body. Using water only cannot take care of the grime accumulation on your body. In effect, regular baths and showers contribute to maintaining your personal appearance.

Eat healthy foods and exercise regularly

A long-term diet rich in sugars and simple carbs can take a heavy toll on your appearance. In some cases, they can make you look older. A diet rich in healthy fats, lean protein, grains, fruits, and vegetables can improve your appearance. The trick to reaping positive results is to stick to a healthy eating routine. Timing your eating is essential too.  In as little as three months, you may begin to notice positive changes in your overall appearance. Another habit you may want to make non-negotiable is exercise. Yes, the idea of hitting the gym every single day can be pretty tiring. Fortunately, working out is not all about gyming. Instead, regular walking, skipping, jogging, etc., can make a difference in if you appear younger or not.
