Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups almond meal
- 1 3/4 cups confectioner’s sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 large egg whites
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Jam or other desired fillings
Directions
Whisk the almond meal and confectioner’s sugar into a bowl. Sift the mixture so that there aren’t any lumps. Then beat your egg whites until they’re frothy. Add granulated sugar and vanilla extract, into the egg white mix and beat until shiny peaks form. Fold your egg whites into almond mixture (almond meal and confectioner’s sugar) until combined. Then, mix with spatula until the mixture has the consistency of honey.
Now, you can transfer the mixture to a pastry bag and cut 1/2 inch off of the tip. Pipe 1-inch circles (here’s a template) on parchment lined tray. Let the macarons dry on your counter for 30 minutes to an hour and a half until tops are firm. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and bake one sheet at a time for about 12-14 minutes, rotating the macarons once. Let the macarons cool down completely before filling and sandwiching together.
And voila, you macarons are ready to eat!
