Shapewear has gained a lot of popularity over the past years. From bodysuits to leggings and one-pieces, we all own at least one item that is supposed to hug you in all of the right places and give you a slimmer silhouette. We recently discovered Yummie, a fashionable and affordable brand that designs everything from pants and tops to swimwear and intimate apparel. We got to interview Alicia Burns, VP of Merchandising and Design at Yummie to get to know the brand a bit better.
Alicia, how long have you been with Yummie?
11 years this May
Describe your responsibilities as the VP of Merchandising and Design.
I oversee and coordinate the entire design process from concept to execution while working closely with sourcing, planning and our marketing teams.
Shapewear has gained a lot of popularity over the past years, what differentiates your brand from the rest of the competition?
Our unique combination of fit, technology and fabrication is what differentiates Yummie styling. Our garments are carefully designed with stretchy, breathable materials. Our shaping pieces are like a second skin, boosting women’s confidence, whether they are dressing up or down. And our leggings, bodysuits and dresses provide “invisible shaping”, while always being stylish and on trend.
Where do you take your inspiration for the new styles?
Yummie’s design philosophy is to create intimate and ready to wear essentials that uniquely combine functionality and comfort to embrace women’s curves and boost their confidence all day, every day. We take inspiration from the current trend and turn them into silhouettes that function as solutions.
What’s your favorite item from YUMMIE?
There are too many to just pick one, the Rachel legging, 2-way tank and the Madelyn bodysuit.
Do you have a life motto?
Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.
