It happened to you, your sister or a cousin: your phone falls to the ground, breaks and won’t open again. Panic sets in, the thought of losing all of your vacation photos, contacts and notes overwhelms you. Cold sweat. Then your better half asks if you downloaded everything to the iCloud…I think so? In a matter of minutes, you have access to your online files, and you can even see the last photo of your latte taken that morning. Relief! So, should we get the new version of the iPhone now?
This is exactly what happened to me a few months ago with my Macbook Air. After surviving several hard knocks, a glass of water ruined everything once and for all on a beautiful sunny morning. After more than seven years of using it every day, I couldn’t believe that my laptop was officially saying goodbye to me, I was taking for granted that it would be around for longer! Yes, the computer had to be replaced, but luckily its contents were saved to iCloud. I was so happy to have everything backed up into my account! When I did it last year, I never thought it would be so useful! How can add iCloud to your account to make sure everything is backed up?
The cloud commonly known as iCloud at Apple includes several handy features including Drive, iCloud storage plans, photo storage and family account sharing. During Apple’s 2021 Worldwide Developer Conference, the brand launched iCloud+, which includes new premium features including Hide My Email as well as a new privacy service called iCloud Private Relay. iCloud subscribers will automatically be upgraded to iCloud+ in the fall and all iCloud+ plans can be shared with people in the same Family Sharing group. Great news, isn’t it?
In addition to being able to back up your data and content in real time, iCloud also makes it much easier to set up a new device (whether it’s a phone, tablet or computer) by allowing content to be copied from one device to another during this configuration. Apple provides 5 GB of capacity with any iCloud account, and the prices for more storage space are very reasonable; you get another 50 GB for just a few dollars more a month.
Finally, Apple also promises a solid level of security, ensuring that our personal data is protected. They put the issue of privacy at the top of their priorities. Using iCloud is a bit like buying your peace of mind (at a very low price!) don’t you think?
