How to Extend Your Tan into the Fall

You don’t have to lose your glow because summer is over! With so many self-tanners and bronzing products on the market, it might be hard to choose the one that is right for you. However, there are also natural ways to maintain a summer glow in colder weather – it all comes down to the way you treat your skin. Take a look at our tips and tricks for maintaining a tan longer!

Hydrate

By hydration, we mean both drinking lots of water and moisturizing – the right way. Lack of proper hydration affects the skin directly, and a dehydrated skin not only absorbs products less effectively (so your self-tanner won’t go on the way you want it to), it also causes faster peeling. Moisturizers are a great way to keep your skin hydrated and healthy for further tanning adventures!

Exfoliate

You might be scared to exfoliate – after all, you’re trying to preserve a tan, however getting rid of dead and dull skin cells will prepare it for exposure to tanning products. Exfoliating gently will have beneficial effects on both your skin and your tan, by leaving a fresh glow.  Exfoliate at least once a week for maximum benefits.

Beta-Carotene

Remember when as a child, children thought they’d turn orange if they ate too many carrots? There’s a bit of truth in that. Beta-carotene is a red-orange pigment that is found in sun-colored fruits and vegetables such as carrots, mangoes, sweet potatoes… Studies, notably published in Journal of Nutrition have shown that consuming produce high in carotenoids (such as beta-carotene) can help you get a golden glow, similar to ones achieved through tanning.
