I will let you in on a secret: during the summer and throughout much of the year, I like to let my hair air-dry and go for a casual beachy look. The good news? It’s a much simpler look to achieve than you might think! Here are some of my favorite products to get this look.
The Products
One of the most important things you’ll need in order to create mermaid hair is to use the right products. Salt water sprays are known to give texture and help you look like you came straight out of the sea, leaving hair wavy and voluminous. We like these options that do not leave hair feeling sticky or weighed down!
Wild Stylers Beach Waves from L’Oreal Professional, $24.99 at drugstores and salons
Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray, $30 at Sephora
OGX Moroccan Sea Salt Spray, $16.50 at drug stores
The Tools
For those of you who want to take the look to the next level, use a curling iron to define a few strands. Be careful, however, not to curl your hair too much; it looks best when you curl only a few sections around your head, leaving it loose in parts. You should also avoid curling too close to the root or the tip of the hair.
T3 Loose waves Curling Iron, $110 at Sephora
Infinitipro by Conair tourmaline ceramic curling wand, $60 on Amazon
