Crate and Barrel’s cool, edgy sister brand, CB2 is launching their new collab with interior designer Kara Mann.  Kara Mann is the perfect fit at CB2 with her knack for irreverent, but classic designs. The retailer is one of her go-to brands for her clients.   Her mantra is design should be lived in, yet chic and this collection is no different.  According to Kara Mann, it is casual, sexy, soft. The inspiration for this collection came from vintage magazines and growing up in the 1980’s.  She said:

“As a teenager in the 80’s, I was given the opportunity to “re-do” my bedroom as a coming of age gift from my parents. So, I went straight to Crate and Barrel. The collection was designed through the eye of that 80’s teenager as much as through the lens of the designer I am today. Ruffles, polka dots and iridescence live along-side raw nubby silks, bohemian undertones and modern lines.”

Here are some of our favourites from the Kara Mann Collection:

Living Room:

Kara Mann: Living Room

Stitch Sofa – $2,999.00

This comfortable, yet functional sofa is upholstered in natural cotton.  We love it’s casual chic look and clean lines.

Kara Mann: Pouf Ottoman

Pleat-Pouf Ottoman – $399.00

This is a sophisticated take on the traditional pouf-ottoman. It’s feminine without being too girly.

Cut Coffee Table – $1,199.00

Voir Clear Glass Vase – $79.95

The Cut Coffee Table in warm ivory is finished in “sprayed concrete”.  This treatment gives it the look of concrete, yet it is smooth to the touch.  It’s modern, yet delicate and a unique piece for any living room.  Finish the table with the beautiful Voir Clear Glass Vase.  The clean design is made whimsical with the addition of polka dots.  It is one of our favourite pieces.

Kara Mann: Glass Bowl

Bangle Dirty Rose Low Glass Bowl – $99.95

This glass bowl, you guessed it, was inspired by jewelry.  We love the dirty pink colour.  It is the perfect accent piece or house warming gift.

The Dining Room

Kara Mann: Dining Room

Pitted Dining Table – $3,099.00

Bounce White Woven Dining Chair – $389.00 each

The base of the table is crafted of solid cast aluminum, while the resin top features a subtle tonal swirl that reminds us of marble.  The architectural design of the table is formal without being stuffy.  The white rope chairs complement the table.  The monochromatic look is on trend, but the design is timeless.

The Nook

Chaise Lounge

Ease Lounge Chair – $1499.00

Ease Lounge Ottoman – $899.00

Wedge Side Table – $379.00

Doesn’t this look like the perfect place to enjoy your favourite book?  Make use of a small space or add to a large one.  The lounge chair and ottoman are comfortable thanks to the feather/down blend cushions, but are still the ultimate in chic thanks to the ivory colour and modern design.  The metal and resin side table completes the look.

The Bedroom

Bowed White Lacquered Bed – $2,299.00-$2,599.00 (Mattress Sold Separately)

The bed is a reinterpretation of a white enamel bed that Kara Mann had in the first room that she was allowed to design herself.  This will give a modern, yet vaguely 80’s look to your bedroom.

Lamps – The Finishing Touch

Lamps

From Left

Allure Table Lamp – $189.00

Scrunch Table Lamp – $229.00

Voir Dot Table Lamp – $229.00

Finish a room with one or all of these table lamps.  “I do have a little bit of a shade story going on with the lamps, with their pleated shades,” Mann says.  The Allure Table comes in the same dirty pink as the Bangle Dirty Rose Low Glass Bowl.  The 80’s mod Scrunch Table Lamp is our favourite.  It is a unique piece with the pattern on pattern design.  Look closely at the base of the Voir Dot Table Lamp.  It’s a match for the Voir Clear Glass Vase – another one of our favourites.  Mann said she hoped that this lamp ends up in young girls’ rooms.  The design is clean enough to work in any room in the house.
