You may have already noticed, but we have been creating more profound and timely content on DIVINE.ca lately, we’re here to talk about the real deal! After saying goodbye to our celebrity gossip section, I wanted to revive a series that I was doing about two years ago: The #Girlboss Interviews. Some people have already told me that they liked to read these features about inspiring Canadian women – and I must admit, I love reading this kind of content too. So, we’re officially kicking off the #Girlboss Chronicles again by featuring by very own answers to this questionnaire!

Are you a morning person or night owl?

Totally a night owl. For me, life starts at 7:00 pm! I love the evenings; it is for me the most beautiful time of the day. I must admit that I would sometimes like to be the kind of girl who likes to get up early…but that just isn’t me.

What’s the piece you like the most in your wardrobe?

It is hard to pick one! I would say my two-tone, tweed CHANEL booties, a remnant of my old life, when I was in charge of public relations for the brand at the beginning of my career.

Where do you go for drinks?

I love Old Montreal, and during the summer, I like hanging out at rooftop terraces like Perché or Nelligan. Otherwise, I always have a thing for hotel bars, they make me feel like traveling even in my own city. I suggest Bartizen (Hotel W), Nacarat (Queen Elizabeth) or Maison Boulud (Ritz-Carlton).

Your best shopping addresses?

I love shopping at Marshall’s, Winners or Saks Off Fifth. There is so much of everything from luxury brands to the more affordable brands. I am still eagerly waiting for the day when Nordstrom Rack will finally be in Quebec!

Who is your female leadership icon?

I have always had a great admiration for Lise Watier, because she dared to defy the standards of entrepreneurship in Quebec a long time ago, and she has been involved in women’s causes for a long time as well. If I could accomplish a third of what she did in her life, I’d be happy.

High heels or flats?

High heels! As often as possible.

What makes you smile?

Seeing my nephew and my niece growing up so fast, enjoying a coffee while listening to the birds sing in my backyard, and planning a trip, wherever it is.

Your favorite restaurant?

Jatoba. I love the décor, the service and their tasty menu. I recommend it to everyone every time I get asked the question!

What do you think is the biggest difficulty women face in 2018?

I believe that the role of women in society is still perceived as inferior, despite all the strong and inspiring women who are speaking up and are changing things around us. There is nothing that bothers me more than to hear completely outdated statements about what a woman should do or be, whether it is at home or in business. I dream of the day when I will be in charge of mowing the grass while watching my fiancé cook dinner for me!

What’s the last book you read?

I am reading it right now, it’s called ”WE, A Manifesto for Women Everywhere”, co-written by actress Gillian Anderson. It is a book that puts a lot of emphasis on the idea that women should help each other and be there for one other, and that speaks to me a lot.

Which place would you like to visit on your next trip?

Right now, I’m dreaming of the Maldives or Croatia.

Do you have a mantra or a motto in life?

I prefer to be the one who will do good around her, even if I get hurt. I believe in karma, and this way of thinking has served me well so far.

What is the item that never leaves your purse?

My vibrant red lipstick, which I adopted a few years ago. I can’t live without it anymore! I love the Canadian brand Ton, otherwise, I wear DIOR.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?

Certainly that I went backpacking around Asia when I was in college. I’m not such a  princess, you know!

What would you like to see as a change affecting women in 2018?

I would love to see more help and kindness towards each other. This is a topic that I intend to address more and more on my platforms in the coming months. We cannot talk about making changes for the status of women if solidarity is not there. It is the basis of change.

What would you like to do more often?

Travel, even though I travel a lot already!  I also want to spend more time reading; it is something I do less often since the arrival of Instagram.

What advice would you give to women today?

Surround yourself with good people, develop your network and help others when you can. Ah, and focus on building your financial independence and make sure you don’t depend on anyone else, ever.
