Where luxury meets culture, and every detail feels DIVINE.

For most travelers, long-haul flights are simply something to endure, a necessary step between the excitement of departure and the relief of arrival. But every now and then, an airline transforms the journey into an experience. EVA Air’s Royal Laurel Class, flying from Taipei to Toronto, was exactly that. From chic designer touches to a wine list worthy of a fine restaurant, every element felt carefully considered, executed with precision, and infused with warmth.

This wasn’t just a flight- It was an elegant embrace at 30,000 feet.

The Good

Comfort That Feels Like Home

One of the first things that stood out was the thoughtful seat design. With modern controls that adjusted seamlessly into a full lie-flat bed, comfort was never a question. Add in a plush seat cover and a heavy duvet (not the flimsy blankets some airlines hand out) and suddenly, the cabin felt more like a luxury boutique hotel room than an airplane. Sleep came easily, and waking up mid-flight felt surprisingly restorative.

Designer Details That Elevate the Experience

There’s something undeniably special about slipping into a pair of pajamas designed by Jason Wu while soaring above the Pacific. EVA Air’s decision to collaborate with the Canadian-Taiwanese designer feels like a nod to elegance and heritage, and it’s a detail passengers won’t forget. Available in both men’s and women’s styles, the pajamas were as chic as they were comfortable, turning what could have been a small amenity into a memorable keepsake.

Dining as a Cultural Experience

Food onboard can be forgettable. On this flight, it was unforgettable.

The extensive menu leaned proudly into Chinese cuisine, celebrating flavours that spoke to Taiwan’s culinary heritage. It wasn’t just about eating; it was about learning. At one point, my husband asked the crew to explain a dish, and their response was warm, patient, and detailed. It turned a meal into a cultural lesson, an intimate introduction to Taiwanese traditions.

The cheese course was another standout, beautifully presented and paired with selections from an exceptional global wine list. From bold reds to crisp whites, the variety was impressive. At altitude, wine often tastes flat, but here, the balance and quality shone through, a testament to EVA’s commitment to elevating the inflight dining experience.

Entertainment & Amenities

Long flights call for plenty of distractions, and EVA delivered with a fantastic range of movies, from Hollywood blockbusters to international films. The beautifully curated Giorgio Armani amenities kit felt indulgent without excess, offering everything needed to arrive refreshed.

Service That’s Personal and Genuine

Perhaps the most striking element of this journey was the service. It began with a warm introduction, the crew making the effort to pronounce my last name correctly—a small but meaningful gesture that set the tone for the flight.

What followed was a level of attentiveness that felt both friendly and caring. Smiles weren’t just polite formality—they radiated genuine warmth. The crew seemed to truly enjoy their work, and that positivity filled the cabin. Even more impressive, everything ran smoothly and on time, making the entire experience feel effortless.

The Bad

It feels almost unfair to list a “bad” when the experience was this polished. But if pressed, the only thing we noticed was that the crew might have been too efficient. Plates and glasses were whisked away almost the moment we finished, leaving little chance to linger over that final sip of wine or last bite of cheese.

Of course, for many travelers, this will be seen as a perk or efficiency at its best. For us, it was a humorous reminder that perfection sometimes leaves you wanting just one more moment.

Final Verdict

EVA Air’s Royal Laurel Business Class offers far more than transportation from point A to point B. It is a curated journey where every detail feels intentional. From Jason Wu-designed pajamas to a cultural dining experience, from the comfort of a heavy duvet to a wine list you’d happily order from on the ground.

But it’s the service, friendly, personal, and caring, that truly distinguishes EVA Air. Combined with flawless punctuality, this long-haul flight becomes an experience that lingers well after landing.

For Canadian travelers making the journey between Taipei and Toronto, EVA Air’s Royal Laurel isn’t just recommended: it’s unforgettable.

My Take: EVA Air Royal Laurel Class is flawless in every sense, with service so attentive you may find yourself wishing for just a few extra moments with your cheese plate.

  • Luxury travelers seeking seamless comfort
  • Food and wine enthusiasts eager for a cultural journey
  • Couples and families who want long-haul travel to feel indulgent
  • Anyone who believes the flight should be as memorable as the destination
