4 Signs Your Workout Isn’t Working Out

Variety is the spice of life, so the saying goes. We need it in every aspect of our lives, from work to our personal relationships to even our workout. Yes, even our daily exercise regimen can eventually become humdrum. How can tell if you’ve reached the point where it’s time to do things differently during your workout? Read on!

You’re Breezing Through It

When you’re using a weight machine or a cardio machine and not even breaking a sweat, you know it’s time to switch things up. As much as many of us wish it, getting and staying fit isn’t an easy road; “no pain, no gain” may sound cliché, but it stands true. So, if your workout regimen feels like a walk in the park, it’s likely time to ramp up the intensity.  Try free weights or using your own body weight to switch things up.

You’re not Motivated to Hit the Gym or Workout at Home

In the same vein, when you’re anticipating a ho-hum experience during your pending workout, you likely won’t be feeling all that excited about getting to it. Much like anything in life, we want to feel challenged during our workout, and when we’re not, we end up putting it off completely.

You’re Not Seeing Any Results.

To see physical changes in your body, you need to change up your workout routine every so often, as well as increase the intensity. If you’re running on the treadmill at the same speed for the same length of time, or not increasing the weight on that leg curl machine, your muscles won’t be put to the test.  Start increasing the speed and intensity and you will likely see some results.

You’re More Prone to Injuries

Is that lower back pain persistent? One reason could be that your workout routine has stayed stagnant. As you continue to run the same exercises, you’re using the same muscles again and again, which will strain them due to the continued pressure. Changing your exercise regimen could help, allowing you to focus more on other muscle groups, allowing the over-exerted ones time to heal.
