We love a decked-out mantel during the holidays, and as it turns out, so do Canada’s photo-to-art experts Posterjack. That’s why they’ve teamed up with South Hill Interiors’ Principal Barbara Milner to bring you six tailored tips to help you dress up your mantel in a fun and festive way for the holidays.

Follow the rule of three’s

Group items in groups of three or odd numbers (trust us!), and mix different shapes and sizes together for some visual variety.

Add structure with symmetry

Bookending your mantel with similar or matching objects is a great way to add structure to your design. It is also a great way to draw eyes to the centre of your mantel if you’ve got a unique or treasured item you’d like to feature.

Play with texture

Being playful with a variety of décor items and textures is a great way to explore and express your personal style. Don’t be afraid to mix textures like wood, yarn, and faux fur to add a warming tactile element to your space.

Create a photo gallery

Incorporating family photos into your holiday mantel design adds a sentimental touch to your mantel. Acrylic Blocks and Woodstand Prints transform your family photos into instant freestanding pieces to get you and your guests in that warm and fuzzy mood we all crave ahead of the holidays.

Display season’s greetings

Display holiday cards, holiday-themed prints, or contemporary décor items to ring in the season in style.

Layer your greenery

Mixing greenery will give your mantel a super lush and luxe look. Incorporate a variety of aromatic greens like pine, cedar, eucalyptus, balsam and juniper, and mist daily to keep them looking and smelling their best.
