You shouldn’t need a lot of convincing to visit Australia no matter what time of the year, but summer is often the most popular time to visit the land down under due to its plethora of activities to do, events to attend, and sights to see. As the country is so diverse in both its nature and people, there is no shortage of reasons to visit the vast and beautiful country. We’ve listed three reasons to visit Australia below.

  1. Natural wonders

Australia is host to many different places that will please any type of traveller. Anything from hiking to skiing, to diving, Australia will have something for even the most discerning of travellers. In the winter, people will head to the mountainous regions in the south-east of the country which boast some of the best skiing venues in the world. In the summer, many tourists will flock to places such as The Great Barrier Reef for snorkelling and diving or visit national parks such as the Grampians in Victoria, which boasts some great hiking trails and camping locations.

Kakadu in northern Australia is another popular location, where you can see animals such as storks, kangaroos and most notably, crocodiles. It is one of the most beautiful places in the world to see not only a hint of an ancient world but exotic wild animals in their natural habitat.

People who like to go off the beaten track, so to speak, might like to take a trek to Uluru, which is essentially the heart of Australia and although it is in the middle of the Outback, it is definitely worth seeing. Be sure to take plenty of water with you though!

If you are into trekking, then taking a visit to the Daintree Rainforest in northern Queensland should be on your list. It is part of one of the oldest rainforests in the world and its massive trees give relief from the heat and humidity for those who visit during the summer months which is the most popular time to go.

Of course, who could visit Australia and not go to one of its thousands of beautiful sandy beaches? No matter which part of the coast you go to in Australia, you will find a lovely beach to enjoy. Millions of people from around the world flock to places such as Bondi Beach in New South Wales or the Gold Coast in Queensland during the summer months to soak up the rays and enjoy the sparkling blue waters.

  1. Sports

There are a lot of major sports that are played in Australia during the summer months. Cricket is an all-time favourite for those with a keen interest in the sport, with everything from the Boxing Day test match to the T20 tournaments played throughout summer. People who are into tennis will be interested in the Australian Open odds when it comes around in late January in Melbourne. The Australian Open draws massive crowds every year, with people from all over the world visiting the country to watch the event every summer.

  1. Festivals

Some of the biggest and most popular festivals take place in Australia, especially during the summer months. When the weather is warm and inviting, outdoor festivals are prevalent and entice people from all over the world to come to visit Australia. There’s the Perth Festival which begins in February and is host to performance art, talks, and music from a cultural point of view. Then there is the Falls Festival in Victoria, which is a music festival that hosts a whole range of performers from all over Australia.

Summer in Australia not only provides a warm refuge from many other places in the northern hemisphere, but it showcases some of the best that the country has to offer.
