The Oscars Red Carpet is the most important event of the year for celebrities. Some stars will rejoice not only for winning the coveted Academy Award, but for the dubious honour of making everyone’s best dressed list as well. For the first time in two years, the Red Carpet was almost back to normal, and celebrities went all out in fashion that was colourful and original. The best dressed celebs took risks, wore pants (and short shorts) and had fun with fashion again.
Here are our favourite looks from the Oscars:
Nicole Kidman in Giorgio Armani Privé
The light blue dress is also one of the colours of the year for 2022. Nicole Kidman looked flawless in a gown that had simple drama. The custom dyed garment featured an embellished train and a voluminous peplum. Kidman always shines on the Red Carpet and this year was no exception.
Ariana DeBose in Valentino
Not only did Ariana DeBose become the first Afro-Latina queer woman to win Best Supporting Actress, she won the hearts of many with her bold, dramatic crepe couture by Valentino. We loved the pants and the sweeping cape.
Zendaya in Valentino
Zendaya looked amazing in a modern take on Sharon Stone’s GAP blouse with dramatic skirt look from the 1998 Oscars. The best dressed regular paired a tiny white blouse with a beautiful shimmering skirt and airy bracelets.
Kristen Stewart in Chanel
Speaking of tiny, Best Actress nominee paired tiny shorts with a blazer and open blouse for one of the coolest, most modern looks on the Red Carpet.
Jessica Chastain in Gucci
The Best Actress winner was ethereal with a touch of camp in this bold Gucci gown. Ruffles, sequins and a train? This gown had it all and Chastain pulled off the look.
Penelope Cruz in Chanel
One of the few to walk the Red Carpet in black, Penelope Cruz was glamourous in Chanel. The gown even had pockets!
Kirsten Dunst in Vintage Christian Lacroix
Kirsten Dunst went vintage in a gown that is simple in cut, but dramatic in colour with tiered ruffles.
Olivia Colman in Dior
Modesty doesn’t have to be boring. Olivia Colman may have been covered up, but she was anything but dull in this shimmering Dior gown.
Demi Singleton in Miu Miu
Demi Singleton looked like a princess in the MiuMiu lilac gown. The details and embellishments were whimsical and made her a stand out.
Zoe Kravitz in Saint Laurent.
Zoe Kravitz channeled Audrey Hepburn in YSL. The gown wasn’t dramatic, but Kravitz made it into something special with her hair, makeup and simple, beautiful jewels which is why she is on the best dressed list.
