Shay Mitchell is the latest star Maybelline New York added to their Global Ambassador roster. The Canadian actress and entrepreneur rose to prominence on Pretty Little Liars and is also a social media darling with almost 36 million followers on Instagram alone.

What gets you most excited about partnering with Maybelline? What is your earliest memory of Maybelline?
I became aware of Maybelline as a young girl. Their iconic “Maybe it’s Maybelline” commercial is forever in my memory, and I looked forward to getting a little older so that my mom would buy me some makeup to experiment with. Of course, that time came. There were a lot of missteps in hindsight, but it was all a part of the experience. I specifically remember the pink and green mascara tube for Great Lash. I have since graduated to Sky High but will never forget that iconic bottle and how cool I felt getting to finally use that product I had been eyeing for so long.
How does your experience as a mom, entrepreneur, and an actress influence your approach to beauty and self-expression?
I wear many hats and so does my beauty routine. I have learned to be flexible and accommodating and give myself space when I need it. When I have a little more time to myself, I take advantage by indulging in my self-care and taking the extra 5-10 minutes to put a little makeup on. But when I don’t have the time, I embrace that too.
