Most people can name a friend or colleague that just seems to get along with everyone and makes a positive impact in their lives. What is their secret? Well, they probably have a high level of emotional intelligence.

Individuals with heightened emotional intelligence can identify emotions within themselves and in others, use this information to adjust their behaviour and conduct themselves in a manner that yields positive results in a range of different contexts. It’s a trait that is of particular benefit to those in leadership roles, but emotional intelligence benefits everyone. The good news is that you can improve your emotional intelligence through activities that you enjoy like gaming, reading or seeking balance.

Poker

Taking the time to observe other people for verbal and non-verbal cues in order to gain emotional acuity is a step on the road to building emotional intelligence and also a prerequisite of being a good poker player.

Some players appear to have a superpower and can read minds, but it’s not mind reading. It’s understanding people by scrutinizing their demeanor. Poker is about reading people and that’s emotional intelligence. You’re not acting based on the cards you have; you’re operating on what your rival thinks you have or you’re acting on what your opponent thinks you think they have. Although many play poker online, the more promising players will opt for a live game at Playerz or a similar online casino that allows them to see the other members of the game.

You will sometimes be dealt bad hands and lose big pots when playing poker. It’s an inevitable part of the game. Being able to manage your negative emotions, look at things objectively and not reveal or release your upset onto others also shows emotional intelligence.

Elevate

Emotionally intelligent individuals use precise words to communicate effectively under any circumstances. People with an inadequate vocabulary are often deficient communicators, and even if it is unintentional, interactions with them irk others and lead to antagonistic relationships. The words we use matter, so make sure you have an arsenal of them to address others in a range of different environments.

There are many websites or apps that can improve your vocabulary, but there is one app that has won prestigious awards and is strongly recommended by users. Elevate was developed in collaboration with experts and backed by independent analysis to provide games that will enhance not only your vocabulary, but also your focus, memory, math skills, and more.
With personalized daily workouts that adjust over time depending on how you perform with each game and with regular use, it should ensure you are never stuck for words.

Balance

Those that possess high emotional intelligence can maintain an awareness of their stressors and take proactive steps to ensure they don’t result in damaging actions. As well as stressors, our daily lives produce innumerable challenges that can feel like they will overcome you. Developing bounce-back ability through positive thinking rather than grumbling or seeking solace in destructive habits is a trait of the emotionally intelligent.

For understanding stressors and coming through adversity, meditation is a common solution and Balance is the app that can aid you. This app provides you with two meditation coaches (Leah and Ofosu) that will guide you through the process of identifying and letting go of troubles. Balance is loved by many, has received accolades from eminent parties and could be your answer to enhancing your emotional intelligence.

Emotional intelligence can mature as you do, but you need to have the urge to improve it and these three games and apps may be the key.
