If you are someone that travels to the US or follows beauty influencers, you may see or hear of brands that are not available in Canada.  They are sold at stores like Ulta or CVS that are not in the Canadian Market (yet) or are available online with shipping fees and duties that make it hard to justify ordering these products. We are letting you know our favourites so that you can keep you eyes (and social media channels) open.  They include:

  • Colour Pop this cult favourite features eye shadow palettes that are high quality, but a fraction of the price of prestige brands. Their Super Shock Shadows are pigmented, long

lasting and at $5 (US) a pop, surprisingly affordable.  Their liquid lipsticks are considered some of the best formulas around.  They also have collabs with Disney (Villains and Designer – their exclusive Princess collection), Kathleen Lights, Shayla and Becky G to name just a few.  The brand, available online or at Ulta, needs a Canadian home.

  • Dose of Colors is known for their simple 5 pan matte eye shadow palettes that have a

  • BH Cosmetics is home to the highly coveted

Zodiac palettes with a unique mix of matte and baked shadow formulas. They have a wide selection of rainbow palettes that are on trend this year.  Their makeup brushes are also very popular.  The affordable brand is available on their own website and at Ulta and Kohl’s.  If you are lucky, you may be able to scoop up some of their brushes and eye shadows at Winners and Marshall’s in Canada.

  • Juvia’s Place founded by West African Chichi Eburu, creates eyeshadow palettes inspired by Africa. The brand, originally developed for women of colour, found mass

appeal and is one of the most talked about companies with influencers for their high quality, colourful, pigmented shadows at surprisingly low cost.  The biggest, and often only complaint people have about the palettes is that their pan size is often too large to use up.  Not a bad problem to have, is it?  You can find this brand at Ulta or order directly from their site.

  • Coloured Raine was another brand developed by and for women of colour that found

mass appeal. Their Queen of Hearts palette was one of the most coveted palettes of 2017 and their highlighters work for many different skin tones.  The brand is so popular, it found its way to Target in the US,.  It is also on Beauty Bay’s site or you can order direct.

Tell us what brands you wish you could find in Canada.
