It’s a busy life being a celebrity, whether you’re an actor, sports star or musician. Some time away from your job is needed and that’s possibly one reason why so many celebrities love to gamble at casinos.
They often have long breaks between filming or recording their next album. Many head to land-based casinos or go online and start playing for example slot games. If you love doing that too then follow this link.
It’s all great escapism from the pressure that their hectic jobs have. Some even take up poker and can play at such a level that they compete in professional events. Let’s take a look at some card loving celebrities.
Shannon Elizabeth
The actress is known for her appearances in the ‘American Pie’ movies and a love of turkeys. Elizabeth loves a slice of poker action too. Such is her skill at the popular card game that she’s taken part in WSOP Main Event tournaments and with a fair degree of success. That includes getting to the semi-finals of the National Heads-Up Poker Championship.
Michael Jordan
One bonus with being a celebrity is that they have a lot of money to gamble with. Michael Jordan’s betting exploits are well-known but they don’t always go well for the legendary basketball player. He once played in Las Vegas and lost $5 million playing craps.
Charles Barkley
What is it with basketball players and casinos? Charles Barkley couldn’t always repeat his success on courts in casinos. He’s on record admitting that over 30 times he’s lost $1 million when playing blackjack.
Ben Affleck
Not all celebrities rack up big losses at casinos. The Batman star wasn’t such a hero in the eyes of the Hard Rock Casino that he used to visit. He’s a dab hand at blackjack and a couple of visits saw him win nearly $1 million leading to him being banned from the premises. He also had success playing poker winning the California State Poker Championship 19 years ago. It’s unlikely he’s ever been scared of The Joker when playing cards.
Toby McGuire
Here’s another actor best known for playing a superhero. The Spider-Man actor has had some good wins playing poker. He gets a fair amount of practice as he owns his own $17,000 shuffling machine.
Tiger Woods
The golfing legend also loves a trip to Las Vegas. Blackjack is one of his passions and he’s known to bet $25,000 on one hand. There’s been plenty of losses though, some people claiming they’ve been as high as $50 million. He’s had to hole a lot of putts to be able to cope with all of that.
