Should I Invest in a Heat Pump for My Home?

If you are asking whether or not you should invest in a heat pump for your home, then the answer is probably yes! You obviously wouldn’t be asking if there wasn’t a problem somewhere. Maybe it’s the high cost of heat and maybe it’s because your current unit isn’t offering you the comfort in climate control you expect when paying such high energy bills. Whatever the reason you may be looking into state-of-the-art technology to control the temperature of both air and water in your home, it may be one of the wisest decisions you’ll make this year.

The Quest Is On

The first thing you will need to do is understand a bit about the technology that makes this particular heat source as efficient as it is. Just check out this blog to better understand just how energy efficient a heat pump is: https://www.bpcventilation.ie/blog/heat-pumps-ireland/. You’ll soon see that in light of global events, it really is something that you should at least be considering for the near future. There is no doubt that global warming is on course to wreak catastrophic events world-wide as soon as 2030 if radical changes don’t happen immediately.

Getting Ahead of Stricter Regulations

With that said, there is a prediction that planet Earth will become hothouse Earth by the year 2050 if we don’t significantly decrease our carbon footprint. If you are wondering what this has to do with a heat pump for your home, the sad reality is that it has everything to do with it. In the event that every homeowner waits until the last minute to convert to an energy efficient, zero carbon emissions heat source, then many will be left without heat due to a backlog in work orders.

To show you just how serious the situation is, the British government is putting an emphasis on global warming prevention. British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has made a pledge in which he will be quadrupling offshore energy from windfarms within the next decade and that the UK is committed to net zero within two decades of that. At that point, by the year 2030, all new cars sold in the UK must be electric. Canada is on track to have this happen by 2035.

A Practical and Highly Personal Perspective

We’ve had a look at the regulatory reasons why it makes sense to transition to a heat pump in the near future. Taking that a step further, it may be time to look at practical and highly personal reasons why now might be a good time to make the transition for you as a homeowner. Not only is the cost of gas, electric and oil already high, it will continue creeping up as greenhouse gases build up and our stores of fuels continue diminishing.

It makes sense to convert to an energy efficient heat source for climate control and hot water instead of literally throwing that money out the window. At least this way you will have something to show for your hard-earned money and you will be one step ahead of all those other homeowners who are waiting until the last minute to make the switch.

On a final note, if price is largely dependent on supply and demand as it is with fuel, then the cost of a heat pump will almost certainly rise in those final days as companies are unable to keep up with demand. Perhaps now is truly the time to start saving for yourself into the future.
