With back-to-school in full swing, getting back to a daily routine can be a little overwhelming.  These tips will help you keep everyday stress in check and make sure the your fall is peaceful and smooth!

Stress Management

According to researchers, job stress has more than tripled in the past few years. How can you cope? First, pay attention to what goes well each day, rather than obsessing about problems. As you fall asleep each evening, remember something good about your work day. Next, indulge in three pleasures every day—whatever is fun and relaxing for you. It could be stopping to admire a neighbour’s garden, or treating yourself to a bubble bath. Whatever you choose, make them part of your daily routine.  Try to keep your weekends a work-free time and enjoy being with your family.

Big Picture Thinking

If you find that you get stressed out easily, take a moment to gain perspective of the situation. Is what you’re worrying about going to matter in a month’s time? A year’s time? If not, then it’s likely not something to get overly worked up about. By looking at the big picture, you’ll begin to feel more at ease, and can then focus your energy elsewhere.

Pondering Punctuality

Is the fact that you’re constantly late a source of stress for you and others? If you’re not punctual, it may be because you don’t realize how much time it takes to travel from point A to point B. From now on, plan to leave 30 minutes ahead of the time you usually would for any appointment or activity. You may end up arriving too early a few times, but it will help you evaluate how much time you actually need, and you can adjust afterwards. Plus, you’ll see how great it feels to be on time!
