What better way to celebrate our national holiday than to showcase great Canadian talent? If Fashion Weeks are not what they used to be, Canadian designers are still as passionate and as promising as they’ve always been. Here are five names for you to remember.

Hilary MacMilan

The Toronto designer is best known for avant-garde clothing that has a touch of femininity. A fixture at Toronto Fashion Week, she won several Canadian celebrities over with her famous Varsity jacket. We like that her collection is offered in a variety of sizes, suiting women with body types ranging from athletic to curvy.  We also love the fact that she uses vegan fabrics in her designs. We look forward to seeing what she’ll show at this September’s Fashion Week!

Anne-Marie Chagnon

Emerging talent for some, well established for others, the jewelery designer has been building her empire for a few years already. Having recently opened a store in Japan, Anne-Marie is clearly making her mark. Our Editor-in-Chief love her large, colorful and structured pieces. They give character to any #ootd. Quebec is proud of this native who advocates for feminism and assertiveness!

Lesley Hampton

She has recently participated in the last Cashmere White Fashion Collection show, and has managed to get attention from celebrities like Kim Kardashian and ET Canada’s Cheryl Hickey. Her involvement with the Be Body Aware campaign also earned her accolades. Her latest athleisure collection, Robust, sold like hot cakes!

Mlle Earth

A cute label born in Quebec offering garments made abroad, the creator behind Mlle Earth draws inspiration from her travels. We love her high quality fabrics and her avant-garde looks, and her tailored suits are  popular in Toronto and Montreal. This is a brand that should be on your radar before it explodes on the international scene.

Miriam Baker

A graduate from Toronto Fashion Incubator, the designer wanted to create bust-friendly fashion for women that have challenges finding pieces that fit. She now launches two collections a year to help women feel fashionable and comfortable. Take a look at her online shop to find amazing looks that fit larger busts.
