Diamonds have always been a wonder to us because of their captivating beauty and unparalleled allure. This rare and precious gemstone is known for its timeless elegance. If we go beyond the beauty and allure, we will see that diamonds are the symbol of love, commitment and luxury. Because of this, they carry great emotional significance along with their dazzling beauty.

In the current jewellery market, you can find different forms and varieties of diamonds. However, loose diamonds have a unique value among customers because they come with a range of possibilities for customization. In this article, we will let you know about the actual value of loose diamonds in the current market and the factors that influence their value. If you are a jewellery enthusiast and have a thing for diamonds, this article will surely help you.

What Are Loose Diamonds?

In order to know the real value of loose diamonds, we need to understand what they actually are. Loose Diamonds are the type of diamonds that have been already cut and polished but have not been set onto the jewellery yet. You must be wondering what there benefits are.

Loose diamonds are extremely valuable because they provide you the ultimate freedom of customization. You can choose a loose diamond according to your preferred shape, colour or cut. Not only that, you can also closely examine and grade the loose diamonds as they aren’t set onto jewellery. Isn’t that great? People purchase loose diamonds for various reasons. Some of them buy them to create unique pieces of jewellery made to  their preferences and some consider it as a strategic investment. Whatever the reason is, the value and the demand for loose diamonds are extremely high in the market.

Attributes that Influence Loose Diamond Value

There are several factors that greatly contribute to increasing or decreasing the value of loose diamonds. Let’s take a look at these factors.

  • Colour

You can grade a diamond on a colour scale. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) established this colour scale which ranges from completely colourless (Z) to brown or light yellow in colour (D). The diamonds that are closer to the colourless end of the scale are rarer and more valuable. So, you can easily understand the value of the loose diamonds through their colour.

  • Cut

Cut is another important factor that influences the value of loose diamonds significantly. The cut includes various factors of a diamond such as polish, proportion and symmetry. These factors control the light and reflection within the diamond and create sparkle. So, a properly cut diamond is extremely valuable in the market.

  • Carat

Carat is basically the weight of a diamond which also decides its size. Large diamonds are more in demand in the current market even though the size does not really decide their value.

  • Clarity

Clarity denotes the internal and external imperfections which we also call inclusions and blemishes. Diamonds with fewer blemishes and inclusions are the most valuable ones.

Concluding Note

Now you can definitely identify the valuable diamonds and separate them from the less valuable ones. Check and consider all these attributes before selecting your favourite diamond among them.
