Electronic Music Superstar Peggy Gou has been named makeup giant, Maybelline New York‘s latest global ambassador. Gou, 32 years old, will launch the collaboration with SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick.

“I am honoured and excited to join the Maybelline New York family. Maybelline has always been a brand that celebrates individuality and creativity – values that resonate deeply with me,” expressed Peggy Gou. “Maybelline products are not only high-performing but also resilient enough to withstand the demands of my often-hectic global touring schedule. I look forward to embarking on this journey.”

The well-known South Korean DJ achieved mainstream recognition with the release of her hit song “(It Goes Like) Nanana” in 2023. The partnership with Maybelline New York will celebrate her creativity and self-expression. With more than 4 million Instagram followers and 11 million monthly downloads on Spotify, she is the ideal pick for the makeup brand’s roster:

“Peggy is the hottest DJ in the world and her songs are everyone’s summer soundtrack. Her infectious energy and her ability to connect with such a diverse audience is a true testament to her authenticity and artistry.”, said Trisha Ayyagari, Global Brand President, Maybelline New York.

Gou shared answers to the questions that everyone is asking about the partnership:

What gets you most excited about partnering with Maybelline & What is your earliest memory of Maybelline?

I am excited to partner with Maybelline given their strong values which I resonate with including individuality and creativity. My earliest memory is from when I was a student in London, I remember specifically buying Maybelline Expert Wear Bronzer from a store in Croydon.

To the world, you personify cool. But what does cool mean to you?

Being cool means being yourself, true to yourself, believing in yourself. Don’t let others put you down or tell you can’t achieve your goals and dreams.

How does Maybelline’s values of work hard, play hard and make change resonates with you?

These are values that I definitely live by. The global nature of my schedule as a DJ is a rewarding challenge and when I can get time off, I always try to make the most of it whether spending with family, friends and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

How has your relationship with self-confidence evolved?

Self-confidence is absolutely an evolution that we all go through, in our personal lives and in our careers. As an Artist I still get nervous sharing new material and before every show. Loving yourself is the number one self-confidence builder and once you learn to do that you feel invincible.

What are your favorite Maybelline products and why?

My favorite Maybelline products are the SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick, they really do stay all day!

How do you get inspired and stay inspired to create and to break boundaries?

Inspiration is wherever you look for it but as a Korean Artist I often look to Korea itself for inspiration, it’s where I go to recharge my batteries and often where I develop with new concepts and ideas.

How does your work influence your approach to beauty and self-expression?

To express myself I like to dress up and down, both are important in their own way. Travelling a lot can take its toll on the skin so I do have a dedicated beauty routine on tour!
