Few drinks capture the spirit of a destination quite like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.discoverpuertorico.com\/pinacolada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pi\u00f1a Colada<\/a>. With its blend of tropical pineapple, creamy coconut and rum, Puerto Rico\u2019s iconic cocktail is as much a taste of the Island as its sun-drenched beaches and vibrant Caribbean culture. Now, mixologists from the James Beard Awardwinning bar, <a href=\"https:\/\/identidadbarpr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Identidad<\/a>, are putting a contemporary spin on the classic with a recipe that brings a taste of Puerto Rico to your own home.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"tonic-colada-recipe\"><u>\u201cTonic Colada\u201d Recipe:<\/u><\/h2>\n<h3 id=\"mix\">Mix<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>1 oz Ron del Barrilito 3 Estrellas<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 oz fresh pineapple juice<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 oz coconut cream<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 oz brewed coffee<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 oz lemon juice<\/li>\n<li>1 bar spoon (1 teaspoon) mirin<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"add\">Add<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>1 dash saltwater solution (solution can be made using 1 part salt to 4 parts water by weight)<\/li>\n<li>1 dash whole milk<\/li>\n<li>1 splash tonic water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"garnish-with\">Garnish with<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Toasted sesame seeds<\/li>\n<li>Pi\u00f1a Colada gummy bears<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>After making your own creation, Puerto Rico invites travellers to visit the Island to sample some of its favourite twists on the Pi\u00f1a Colada. The classic is served almost everywhere, but for a unique experience, head to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paletashop.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Se\u00f1or Paleta<\/a> for cooling Pi\u00f1a Colada popsicles, or try the \u2018dessert colada\u2019 at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriott.com\/en-us\/hotels\/sjuac-ac-hotel-san-juan-condado\/overview\/?scid=f2ae0541-1279-4f24-b197-a979c79310b0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AC<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marriott.com\/en-us\/hotels\/sjuac-ac-hotel-san-juan-condado\/overview\/?scid=f2ae0541-1279-4f24-b197-a979c79310b0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hotel San Juan Condado,<\/a> made with fresh pineapple compote, soft vanilla sponge and silky coconut mousse. If looking for something a little more traditional, the Coco Pirata (Coconut Pirate), served in a coconut shell at <a href=\"https:\/\/villacofresi.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Villa Cofres\u00ed Hotel<\/a> is a local favourite that combines no fewer than four different rums.<\/p>\n<p>When staying in Puerto Rico, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caribehilton.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Caribe Hilton<\/a> is the ultimate hotel of choice. In 1954, Ram\u00f3n \u201cMonchito\u201d Marrero, a bartender at the hotel, invented the Pi\u00f1a Colada after being challenged to create a new welcome drink for guests.
