As consumers become more selective about what they eat and drink, clean, high-quality ingredient cocktails are shaping a new era of modern drinking.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This shift towards purity is also shaping the spirits behind the drinks.\u00a0 For world renowned Finnish mixologist Pekka Pellinen, that philosophy starts with the ingredients.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNature is the ultimate luxury, so you want that purity to shine,\u201d said Pellinen. \u201cWhen you look at a vodka like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lcbo.com\/en\/finlandia-vodka-20362\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Finlandia<\/a>, made with pure glacial spring water and fresh barley ripened under the Midnight Sun, you have a foundation that\u2019s so clean and smooth, the cocktail doesn\u2019t need much else.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That approach is increasingly resonating with consumers who are moving away from overly complicated cocktails in favour of drinks that feel lighter and more effortless to enjoy. Rather than relying on heavy syrups or overpowering flavours, modern cocktails are now centred on bright citrus, fresh herbs and quality spirits that allow each ingredient to shine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For Pellinen, balance is what ultimately defines a great cocktail. \u201cWhen you understand the occasion,\u00a0 whether it\u2019s an aperitif, something for a long evening with friends or a drink after dinner, it becomes much easier to find the right balance,\u201d he said. \u201cThe best cocktails are the ones people naturally come back to each time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are two vodka cocktails inspired by that philosophy of purity, simplicity, freshness and balance.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"finlandia-sour\">Finlandia Sour<\/h3>\n<p><b>Ingredients:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1.5 oz Finlandia Vodka<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 oz lemon juice<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0.75 oz simple syrup<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Egg white (optional)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Method:<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into an ice filled glass, and garnish with a lemon twist and cherry.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 id=\"finlandia-espresso-martini\">Finlandia Espresso Martini<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1.5 oz Finlandia Vodka<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">0.5 oz simple syrup<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1.5 oz espresso\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass.
