One morning, I received an email from my client with an interview request from Maya Abrahamsson of The Latest With Maya<\/em> (in addition to DIVINE, I manage several lifestyle experts).<\/strong> As I always do, I vetted the request by researching the person sending it, ensuring it was legitimate and a good use of my client\u2019s time. What I discovered was an extraordinary young woman who, despite facing numerous health challenges, continues to inspire others.<\/p>\n

Maya describes herself as “a metastasized brain tumor survivor and ongoing patient,” having undergone more than 25 brain surgeries, two and a half years of chemotherapy and six weeks of radiation. Through it all, The Latest With Maya<\/em> has remained her constant.<\/p>\n

Starting at the age of 13, Maya began a pop culture show at Seacrest Studios in Children\u2019s Hospital Colorado. The show, recorded for the children at the hospital, was also featured on Maya\u2019s YouTube channel. At 14, she found her purpose, interviewing people who brought her the same joy and escape that she wanted to share with others.<\/p>\n

When asked about her favorite interview, Maya is reluctant to choose just one. She says, “There have been so many interviews that have been my favourite. It\u2019s always whoever I\u2019m talking with in the moment. No matter who I\u2019m interviewing, we always find something to connect over.”<\/em> However, she recalls two standout interviews early in her career at Seacrest Studios: “I remember when I interviewed actors Todd Grinnell and Justin Bartha. Both were such fun interviews, and we laughed a lot. Those are the two that made me feel like I was really finding my rhythm as an interviewer.”<\/em><\/p>\n

For Maya, the key to her success has been staying true to her passion\u2014picking people whose work has inspired or entertained her, and finding a way to connect with them.<\/p>\n

Can you imagine reaching out to your favorite celebrities and asking to interview them? That takes chutzpah,<\/em> and Maya has it in spades. She speaks to those who inspire her, and in turn, she inspires me. Maya is kind, spunky, and creates opportunities despite life\u2019s toughest challenges.
