Pinterest-perfect homes are usually staged by professionals or are downright fake. Prepare for a shock, but social media influencers lie! What’s more important than a beautiful house? A well-maintained property, that’s what. This is one of the main reasons why we redecorate, renovate and remodel so much. There are also design trends, advancements in technology and personal tastes that evolve as we age. This means chasing the perfect home can be like pushing a rock up a hill. Instead, focus on creating a safe and comfortable space that addresses personal needs and the needs of your family and loved ones.

Creating a Perfect Home is Subjective

Further to tastes, what makes the perfect home is highly subjective. An Angus Reid poll stated that 81% of Canadians are happy with their homes. Another poll also found that 2/3 of people in the Canada consider a lakeside cottage the perfect home. Of course, this is impossible for most people. The best thing you can hope for is to make the most out of your home’s comfort and sustain yourself with what you have, and not what other people say you should include.

Homes are Dynamic and Changing

You may not have considered it, but much like your life, a home is always a work in progress. Like life, a home is dynamic and changes based on your personal situation, personal needs, and the needs of the family. Because of this, modern homes are always changing, and that means you will always be chasing what you or someone else believes is perfect. However, it is said that perfection is a moving target you can never really hit, no matter how good your aim is!

Appreciate What You Have

It’s only human to find fault with something. Even if you live in what you perceive to be the perfect home, there is always something you will find to complain about. After all, there are many people who do not have homes and sleep on the streets. Of course, there could be major problems with your house, but anything can be addressed and fixed.
