As many countries are gearing up to reopen their economies, regulations for the use of face masks are inevitably being set in place. Brands across the world have taken matters into their own hands and have been getting creative with their designs. Businesses, big and small, have taken a step to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19<\/a> virus by introducing non-medical face masks to their collections. It is important to note, however, that these masks have not been proven to protect you from the virus, but can help prevent the virus from spreading. I should also add that washing your hands and social distancing is just as important as wearing the proper gear.<\/p>\n

With that being said, many local Canadian designers, such as Olive + Splash<\/em> and Nonie <\/em>have been using their dead-stock fabric in producing the masks to be environmentally conscious. Not only are many designers prioritizing our planet, but local brands such as Revol Girl<\/em>, Narces<\/em> and Bathing Belle<\/em>, are donating a portion of their proceeds to essential workers, local healthcare institutions, long-term care homes and food banks. Certain brands are also making a point to add free face masks to every order from their website. Though it is uncertain how long this new accessory will stick around, we might as well help encourage local businesses and charities, and still look fashionable. Who would have thought that this avant-garde accessory would become a staple in our summer wardrobe?<\/p>\n
