Cinzia Motta has been an esthetician for over 35 years and is known in Toronto for her facials.\u00a0 Selfcare and skincare shouldn\u2019t stop because we can\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/divine.ca\/en\/tried-and-tested-the-oxygen-facial\/\">get a facial<\/a> \u2013 it should be part of our daily routine.\u00a0 An esthetician will recommend products and treatments targeted to your individual skin type and skin concerns. \u00a0Many are doing individual consults so that you can maintain your skin until you are able to get a professional facial.\u00a0 We spoke with Cinzia to get her tips for caring for your complexion at home.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"morning-routine\"><strong>Morning Routine<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1597599\" src=\"https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Day-cream.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"654\" srcset=\"https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Day-cream.jpg 433w, https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Day-cream-320x349.jpg 320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Your morning routine is all about protecting, lubricating and treating your skin.\u00a0 It is important to exfoliate your skin in the morning.\u00a0 Cinzia recommends a mild physical exfoliant.\u00a0 This will slough off any dead skin so that any active ingredients that are applied to your face after will penetrate.\u00a0 If your skin is thick, oily or dry, active ingredients will not penetrate.<\/p>\n<p>Next, use a serum that is targeted to your skin\u2019s issues (oily, dry, mature, etc.)\u00a0 After you use a serum, you can apply a moisturizer.\u00a0 Your final step will be to apply a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 to protect your skin from the sun and to help minimize photo-aging.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"nighttime-routine\"><strong>Nighttime Routine<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1597597\" src=\"https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Skin-Care-Set-800x872.jpg\" alt=\"Esthetician Skin Care Set\" width=\"601\" height=\"655\" srcset=\"https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Skin-Care-Set-800x872.jpg 800w, https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Skin-Care-Set-320x349.jpg 320w, https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Skin-Care-Set-560x611.jpg 560w, https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Skin-Care-Set.jpg 917w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 601px) 100vw, 601px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The process is the same for your nighttime routine.\u00a0 Your skin repairs itself at night while you sleep.\u00a0\u00a0 It\u2019s always important to use a repair product at night.\u00a0 A sleep mask, for example, should contain ingredients that repair skin.\u00a0 The serum that you use at night will be richer than your daytime product.\u00a0 A good product to look for is hyaluronic acid.\u00a0 \u00a0It absorbs up to 1,000 times its weight in water, hydrates and plumps skin. Use your products in the same order as you did for your daytime routine, eliminating sunscreen.<\/p>\n<p>If you have been having treatments to reduce the appearance of dark spots, \u00a0there are products that you can use at home in the meantime.\u00a0 Remember, results are not immediate and you need to be consistent and use them daily.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"weekly-routine\"><strong>Weekly Routine<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1597595\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1597595\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1597595 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Sheet-Mask.jpg\" alt=\"Esthetician: Sheet Mask\" width=\"600\" height=\"899\" srcset=\"https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Sheet-Mask.jpg 600w, https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Sheet-Mask-320x479.jpg 320w, https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Sheet-Mask-560x839.jpg 560w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1597595\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Shiny Diamond<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Incorporate a mask once a week.\u00a0 You can do it every 2-3 days depending on your skin care needs, the mask\u2019s active ingredients and directions. Fibre or sheet masks are very popular right now.\u00a0 There is a mask out there for every skin care need.\u00a0 There are some, like oxygen masks, that will work for any skin type.\u00a0 Make this a weekly routine by doing a mother\/daughter facial or have a virtual \u201cGirl\u2019s Night In\u201d and mask with your close friends.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"rollers\"><strong>Rollers<\/strong><\/h3>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1597593\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1597593\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1597593\" src=\"https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/jade-roller.jpg\" alt=\"Esthetician: Jade Roller\" width=\"600\" height=\"900\" srcset=\"https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/jade-roller.jpg 600w, https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/jade-roller-320x480.jpg 320w, https:\/\/divine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/jade-roller-560x840.jpg 560w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1597593\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: cottonbro from Pexels<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Rollers can play an important part in skincare.\u00a0 It\u2019s like the gym for your skin.\u00a0 You are doing expansion and contraction of a muscle when you are rolling.\u00a0 You can use a small part of the roller and roll it away from your eyes to help with puffiness.<\/p>\n<p>If you wake up swollen in the morning, use the roller to promote lymphatic drainage.\u00a0 Rollers also help calm down the skin.\u00a0 They are created from different stones like jade, amethyst or quartz.\u00a0 The rollers are supposed to give off different energy, but the real benefit comes from the act of rolling itself.\u00a0 Cinzia recommends using one daily, and then applying your serum which has active ingredients.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t use or buy needle rollers \u2013 you can hurt yourself or damage your skin.\u00a0 Leave intrusive treatments to professionals like your esthetician or dermatologist.\u00a0 They are trained in procedures like micro-needling and micro-blading.\u00a0 Never attempt these on your own at home.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, your skin extends below your neck \u2013 it is important to look after your body too.\u00a0 Your body requires exfoliation and a good moisturizer as well.
