Fire is an important element that has many uses. They range from using the stove in our kitchen to lighting furnaces. With residential properties, smoke detectors and fire alarms are used in case of emergencies. Some residential properties don’t have any fire extinguishers however, they are common in commercial buildings such as shopping malls, offices, schools, and stadiums.  You can always find fire extinguishers that can be used in an emergency situation.

A fire extinguisher is a big red cylinder that can be often seen on the wall of a main corridor. The directions for use are written on it.  This allows whoever uses it in an emergency situation to have simple directions to follow. In every commercial building, it is vital that management has their own fire safety equipment in case of an emergency. Not only a fire extinguisher is critical to limit a fire, but it also maintains the health and safety of people who live or work in the building.

Fire extinguishers are installed in almost every commercial building these days. It is no secret that most commercial buildings are filled with people. Although their basic function is to control and extinguish a small fire in emergency situations, there is also another use. A fire extinguisher can also limit the smoke debris from spreading into the environment. They prevent fire from spreading and some can even minimize residue to avoid damage to office equipment.

Different Types of Fire Extinguishers:

It is important to note that there are different types of fire extinguishers. Some buildings have electrical wiring where a powdered fire extinguisher won’t work to put out the fire.  They may even cause more damage. Using a water blazed fire extinguisher in the kitchen where cooking oil is highly flammable can be really dangerous. You can always refer to the supplier of CO2 fire extinguishers, your particular setting and what kind of fire extinguisher is suitable in your building. You not only need proper fire extinguishers, but  management must train their staff on how to use them. There are special considerations for the type of fire extinguishers in a room with multiple computers or servers.  You need to be able to safely put out the electrical fire while eliminating damage and keeping things up and running.

It is important to remember that even if you put out the fire with an extinguisher, you should still call the Fire and Rescue Services to ensure that it has been fully extinguished.  An extinguisher can eliminate the risk of fire spreading through commercial offices and is effective in tight spaces.  Anyone in the commercial building can use a fire extinguisher in an emergency, ideally, though, they would have some training. This way people can manage their safety in event of a fire emergency without waiting for professional help.
